The former director of Shabaash Mithu, Rahul Dholakia, released an official statement on his Twitter handle where he penned down an emotional statement mentioning the reason for his departure from the film crew is that his schedule is packed and he won't be able to give enough attention to Shabaash Mithu. Ultimately, filmmaker Srijit will be handling the direction of Shabaash Mithu from now on.

Recently, Taapsee Pannu was summoned by the ETimes where she stated her point of view about Rahul Dholakia quitting the Shabaash Mithu team. She said, "It is unfortunate that Rahul sir could not be a part of the film. The pandemic played havoc with the schedules. It was a mutual decision made in the best interest of the film. We had only shot for six days. Right now, I don't know what the plan is and how Srijit sir wants to take this forward. I don't know if he wants to keep the portions already shot or would he like to reshoot them. I am sure all that has been factored in."
