Suriya asks fans to ignore online trolls and spread love instead

Tamil star Suriya has asked his fans to stay out of online fights and stop replying to trolls. He made the appeal while speaking at a fan meet organised by the All India Suriya Fans Club, and a video of his address has been doing the rounds on social media.

The actor told fans to spread love instead of hitting back at hateful posts. In his view, the moment someone reacts to a post put up by a fool, it is the fan who ends up getting hurt. He said there was no need to argue or try to change such people's minds, since only a few would ever come around. "Don't waste your energy," he told the crowd, asking them to keep doing what they love with sincerity every day and promising that success would follow.

It is not clear whether he had a particular post in mind or was speaking about social media negativity in general. According to reports, his words drew mixed reactions online. Some fans of other stars felt the word "fools" was aimed at them, while others argued that bad opinions should be challenged. Suriya's own fans backed him strongly.

Trolling around big releases is common in Tamil cinema, and Suriya's films have reportedly been frequent targets, with his fans usually rushing to defend him. His appeal also reportedly comes soon after Salman Khan hit out at trolls, calling them "parasites".

The actor is on a strong run. Vishwanath and Sons has been a hit, and reports say it came right after Karuppu, giving him two successes in a row. At the film's success meet, he said a movie cannot be judged only by tickets sold, pointing to the emotions and conversations audiences carry home. He also recently marked 20 years of marriage with Jyotika, with the couple reportedly renewing their vows in Scotland.

Several projects are lined up, according to reports. These include Scene, an action drama that marks Malayalam director Jithu Madhavan's Tamil debut, with Suriya playing DSP Inbaraj. He will also reunite with Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel for Suriya 48, slated for 2027, and will headline Lokesh Kanagaraj's Rolex, which builds on his villain role from Vikram.
