Spider-Man: Brand New Day goes digital October 6 as Florence Pugh thanks Tom Holland

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is getting ready for its next chapter. Sony has reportedly set the Tom Holland superhero film for digital purchase on Tuesday, October 6, about 70 days after it opened in theatres on July 31. Fans will be able to rent or buy it on several platforms, including Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

The move follows a huge run in cinemas. Reports say the film opened with $360.1 million in North America, a record opening weekend, and has since collected $950.9 million at home. That makes it the highest domestic grosser of all time and the first film ever to cross the $950 million mark there. With about $1.5 billion from overseas markets, the worldwide total stands at $2.5 billion.

The story follows a forgotten Peter Parker who lives alone as a full-time Spider-Man, until rising pressure sets off a dangerous transformation and brings a powerful new enemy into his life. Reports also suggest the film could return to cinemas with extra footage.

Florence Pugh, who has a short cameo as Yelena in the film, says she owes the part to Holland. Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she recalled that soon after Black Widow came out, Holland was asked on a red carpet who he wanted to team up with next, and he picked her. Fans loved the idea so much that it set things in motion, and she wrapped up with a warm "Thank you, Tom!"

Pugh will play Yelena again in Avengers: Doomsday, which is reportedly due on December 18. The film brings heroes from three universes together against Dr. Victor Von Doom, with Robert Downey Jr returning to the MCU as the villain.

In the same chat, Pugh named Channing Tatum as the co-star she had the most fun with on set. Tatum is back as the mutant Gambit, the character he first played in the 2024 hit Deadpool & Wolverine, and Pugh simply said, "He's so fun!" Before all that, she leads East of Eden, a limited drama series inspired by John Steinbeck's novel, which releases on October 1.
