Sonakshi Sinha wears a saree for the first time since her wedding day

Sonakshi Sinha has brought the saree back, and she says it has been a long wait. The actress posted a set of pictures on Instagram in a rich red drape and noted that she had not worn one since her wedding. "The last time i wore a saree was when i got married… felt nice wearing one after so long," she wrote in her caption.

The drape comes from her friend Huma Qureshi, who worked with her in 'Double XL'. Reports say the saree was a gift from Huma and belongs to her own label, Live Free Fall. It is reportedly priced at ₹14,900.

Sonakshi tied her hair into a low bun finished with fresh white gajra. According to reports, the saree is a light, handwoven Chanderi silk dotted with small star-shaped gold zari motifs and framed by a plain gold border, worn with a red blouse that reaches the elbow. She reportedly finished the traditional look with matching bangles and earrings, a mangalsutra and sindoor, kept her makeup soft with a nude lip, and posed out on her balcony.

The post also takes fans back to her big day. Sonakshi married her long-time partner Zaheer Iqbal in a small ceremony in Mumbai on June 23, 2024, according to reports. For the wedding she reportedly picked a 44-year-old ivory Chikankari saree in pure silk georgette that once belonged to her mother, Poonam Sinha.

For the reception, she is said to have switched to a bright crimson Banarasi silk saree named 'Chand Buta' from Sanjay Garg's label Raw Mango. Made in pure Katan silk, it carried gold crescent and floral motifs and a heavy zari border. She reportedly paired it with an emerald and gold choker, statement jhumkas and red chura bangles.

The 'Dabangg' and 'Akira' actress has long made room for traditional drapes in her wardrobe, and this latest post shows the saree still holds a special place for her.
