In a recent interview, Shobu Yarlagadda, the producer behind the amazing Baahubali franchise, shared some interesting insights about ticket prices and audience numbers. The Baahubali series, starring Prabhas, has raked in an impressive Rs. 2400 crores, with the second installment alone bringing in around Rs. 1800 crores.

According to Shobu Yarlagadda, “During its run, Baahubali 2 sold over 10 crore tickets, all priced at Rs. 125. Even recent blockbuster films like RRR and KGF 2 fell short, with only half the admissions of Baahubali 2.”

He also mentioned, “With ticket prices now capped at Rs. 300, upcoming movies might surpass Baahubali 2 in revenue. In terms of sheer audience numbers, Baahubali 2 is on par with the classic Sholay, which sold around 13 crore tickets. Back in the days of Sholay, going to the movies was the ultimate entertainment.”

Shobu Yarlagadda’s comments highlight the evolving landscape of cinema and the challenges faced by today’s filmmakers.
