Satya and Yogi Babu Team Up for Golden Bhagyam, Title Glimpse Out

Satya and Yogi Babu are headlining a film together for the first time, and the makers have unveiled its title with a comic glimpse. The project is called Golden Bhagyam, and it is directed by Pawan Basamsetti, the writer-director behind Rangabali. The film pairs a Telugu comedy star with a Tamil one, and the team is calling it a "Telumil" entertainer.

The glimpse opens on a war of words over food. A Telugu man tucks into biryani with a cool drink while a Tamil man settles down to idli and sambar, and the two bicker over whose cuisine wins. A third character cuts in to say there is a far better combination on offer.

That combination is Satya and Yogi Babu, who walk in wearing traditional white. The director then pitches the film in his own playful way, calling it a story of love, crime and action, before the title card lands. The whole piece is styled as a spoof of the grand announcements made for Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan films.

A language swap is the running gag at the heart of the film. Satya, a Telugu actor, speaks Tamil throughout, while Yogi Babu, one of Tamil cinema's best-known comedians, speaks Telugu. Jayashree and Athiraj play the female leads, and the supporting cast includes Vennela Kishore, Sudharshan, Rohini, Sunil Reddy and Tanikella Bharani.

Pawan Basamsetti is producing along with Nagarjuna Reddy under the Dream Movie Makers and Nayavayu Chitralu banners. Bablu Aju is the cinematographer and Pawan CH is scoring the music. Shooting is already under way.

Even the release date got the comic treatment. The film was first slotted for Sankranthi, but after moving on from that festival plan, the makers now simply say Golden Bhagyam will arrive sometime this year.
