Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' Faces Mixed Prospects In Kerala Theatres

Kerala box office of 'Animal' leaves trade analysts puzzled over the unexpected underperformance.

As Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor's pan-India action drama, "Animal," gears up for its global theatrical release, the film's Hindi version sees promising pre-sales across various regions.

However, the Malayalam version's advance bookings in Kerala tell a different story, leaving trade analysts puzzled over the unexpected underperformance. The simultaneous release of 12 other Malayalam movies featuring well-known stars on the same day is believed to have significantly impacted "Animal's" pre-sales in the region.

Adding to the challenge, the film's extended run-time of 3 hours and 21 minutes, coupled with Ranbir Kapoor's comparatively minimal fanbase in Kerala, are cited as additional factors affecting the film's initial reception. Despite these hurdles, industry insiders are optimistic about a positive turnaround once the first day shows commence.

"Animal" also stars Bollywood luminaries Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and young actress Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, and Pranay Vanga, the film's fate in Kerala will be closely watched.
