Ranbir Kapoor turns 44 as family and film teams share birthday wishes

Ranbir Kapoor celebrated his 44th birthday on September 28, and the wishes came in from his family and from the teams behind his next two big films. His sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni led the family tributes with an affectionate post on social media.

Riddhima shared a photo and added lines from a popular song: "Tu mera chand hai, tu hi raina hai, ek hazaron mein mera bhai hai." She signed off with "Happiest birthday Rans, love you." Reports say the picture showed Ranbir seated in the middle, with Riddhima and her husband Bharat Sahni beside him. The two siblings are the children of Neetu Kapoor and the late Rishi Kapoor.

Neetu Kapoor reportedly posted a selfie with her son, calling him "Rana" and writing that he is hers and that she feels blessed. Alia Bhatt's mother Soni Razdan is also said to have shared an old picture of the couple and called Ranbir the "best man in the house". It was a double celebration for the family, since Ranbir's aunt Rima Jain reportedly turned 70 on the same day.

The Love & War team joined in as well. Bhansali Productions posted a group picture of Alia Bhatt, Ranbir, Vicky Kaushal and Sanjay Leela Bhansali from a dinner outing, with the line "Today, there's only Love, no War!" According to reports, the romantic war drama centres on a love triangle, opens worldwide on January 21, 2027, and is being made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

On the big screen, Ranbir plays Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari's two-part Ramayana, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Reports also list Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Arun Govil as King Dasharatha. The first song, "Jai Jai Ram", composed by AR Rahman and sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, reportedly came out on September 14 for Ganesh Chaturthi.

Ramayana: Part 1 is expected in theatres this Diwali, and reports put its India release on November 8, 2026, with the international release on November 6. The second part is reportedly planned for Diwali 2027.
