Rajkummar Rao's courtroom drama Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story made Rs 2.35 crore net in India on its first day, opening the same Friday as Yami Gautam's Nayyi Naveli.
Rajkummar Rao's courtroom drama Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story made Rs 2.35 crore net in India on its first day in theatres, Friday, October 16, 2026.
It did not have the day to itself. Yami Gautam's Nayyi Naveli opened the same Friday and got the bigger share of screens. Prahaar ran in a little over 4,100 shows across the country, about 2,000 fewer than its rival.
Nayyi Naveli finished the day ahead with Rs 3.25 crore net, reports say.
Prahaar follows public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam and goes back to some of the biggest criminal trials in the country. These include cases tied to the 1993 Bombay blasts and the 2008 attacks on Mumbai, and the film puts the prosecution's fight for justice at its centre.
For Yami, Nayyi Naveli is her first release of the year and another film led by a woman. Before it she starred in Haq in 2025 and Article 370 in 2024.
