Peddi singer Heer lands a female lead in Imtiaz Ali's Side Heroes

Heer, the playback singer behind 'Hellallallo' in Ram Charan's Peddi, has won a female lead in Side Heroes, the comedy about old friends backed by Imtiaz Ali and Mahaveer Jain, reports say.

The producers wanted new faces for the women in the film. Heer's audition won the team over, and the role suits her for a simple reason. The character she plays is a singer too.

The makers have not confirmed the casting yet. A formal word from them should follow shortly.

Music lovers already know her voice from 'Tabassum' and 'Chal Anjaane', two songs AR Rahman composed.

Varun Sharma, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana head the cast. Ssanjay Tripaathy directs the film, which is set in Bihar and opens on Friendship Day 2027.
