Master Digital Streaming Rights Sold

The news comes as a shock to theatre owners. The digital rights of Vijay's blockbuster Tamil movie Master have been sold. Vijay got a blockbuster hit with the movie Master, which has Vijay Setupathi playing the antagonist. The film was released during Sankranti and had a successful run at the box-office. The movie is still doing good at various parts in Chennai. Theatrical rights of the film were sold at Rs. 9 crores and the film is expected to collect Rs. 15 crores in its final run. The Digital streaming rights of the movie were given to Amazon.  

The price at which Amazon grabbed the digital movie rights is undisclosed. The movie would be streaming from the 12th of February, as planned initially. But this is a sudden surprise as Amazon announced that they are going to stream it on January 28 from 10:15 pm. It comes as a rude shock for theatre owners and film distributors who are still making some business from the movie. The movie's release on the Digital platform would affect the numbers of footfall to the screen. Their dreams of minting money from the movie's theatrical run for few more weeks shattered.
