Kalki 2: Prabhas' Sequel Starts Regular Shoot in October, Eyes Mid-2027 Wrap

The sequel to Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD is about to start in earnest. Director Nag Ashwin will begin the regular shoot of the much-awaited follow-up, Kalki 2, in October. He is aiming to complete the entire production by mid-2027.

The first film, a futuristic sci-fi spectacle drawn from mythology, became a massive pan-India blockbuster and went on to win two National Awards. The honours were reportedly presented just a couple of days ago. The film is also said to have earned over 1100 crore worldwide in theatres, and that success has made fans expect even more from the second chapter.

Prabhas returns to his role and is expected to join the sets next month along with the other lead actors. Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan are also back in important roles. According to reports, a few portions featuring Kamal Haasan's antagonist character have already been filmed. More well-known actors are expected to join the shoot as work moves forward.

The makers are planning a long shooting schedule to meet the deadline. Nag Ashwin has reportedly finished most of the major pre-production work, which clears the way for the next phase. He has put a lot of time into building the world, scale and story of the second instalment, and it is expected to be much bigger than the first in both production and scope.

Ashwini Dutt is producing the sequel on a lavish scale under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner. The main cast is coming back, the regular shoot starts in October and the team is aiming for mid-2027, so Kalki 2 is heading into its most important stretch yet.
