Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3: The Conclusion has crossed Rs 500 crore in worldwide gross. It reached Rs 501.80 crore on its 12th day in theatres.
The thriller bounced back on Tuesday, October 13, earning Rs 8.50 crore net in India against Rs 6 crore on Monday, a rise of 41.7%. Its India net now stands at Rs 323.50 crore and its domestic gross at Rs 387.80 crore, with Rs 114 crore coming from overseas. The film opened on October 2 with Rs 62 crore and ended its first week at Rs 245.50 crore net.
There will be no fourth film, says director Abhishek Pathak. "All of us believe this is the last part of the film," he said in an interview. He added that the story has ended and the team had to stop at some point. He also said the second weekend crossed Rs 60 crore.
Mohanlal played Georgekutty in the original Malayalam films. In a video shared by the makers, he said he was impressed by how the Hindi team gave the story a fitting end, and congratulated Abhishek Pathak, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajay Devgn and the whole cast and crew.
Shriya Saran, who is part of the cast, said the Hindi film should not be compared with the Malayalam version because its story was written completely differently. She credited the script and Pathak's direction for how audiences have received it.
Co-writer Aamil Keeyan Khan said the team wrote 100 drafts of some scenes and tried 15 to 20 versions of the ending. Akshaye Khanna left the project a week before filming began, so the writers had seven days to rework the script around Jaideep Ahlawat's character.
Tabu and Ishita Dutta also star.
