Delayed But Anticipated: Akhil Akkineni's Agent Keeps OTT Viewers On The Edge

Despite facing a disappointing box office performance, the eagerly awaited release of Akhil Akkineni's latest film, Agent, has been highly anticipated by OTT viewers. Directed by Surender Reddy, this spy action thriller introduces newcomer Sakshi Vaidya as the female lead.

Initially scheduled to premiere on May 19, 2023, Agent failed to make its way onto the streaming platform as announced by Sony LIV. Speculation arose when reports emerged suggesting that the filmmakers were making edits to cater to OTT viewers, fueling expectations for a release on June 23, 2023. However, once again, the date passed without the film being released on the platform.

During a recent interaction with the film's producer, Anil Sunkara, it was clarified that the makers were not editing the film specifically for OTT viewers. The decision to premiere the film rests solely with the OTT platform, in this case, Sony LIV. Thus, the delay in Agent's OTT release is solely the responsibility of Sony LIV.

Agent features Bollywood actor Dino Morea as the antagonist in this thrilling spy story, while Mollywood Megastar Mammootty portrays a significant role. Urvasi Rautela also adds sizzle to the film with a special song. AK Entertainments and Surender 2 Cinema have jointly produced the movie, with music composed by Hiphop Tamizha.
