Cyrus Broacha calls Farah Khan's cook Dilip overrated, says his humour feels scripted
On his talk show Cyrus Says, comedian Cyrus Broacha said Farah Khan's cook Dilip, a favourite in her YouTube vlogs, now looks like he is acting all the time. His guest Shantanu Anam defended the cook.
Comedian Cyrus Broacha has taken aim at Dilip, the cook who became a fan favourite through Farah Khan's YouTube vlogs. Broacha called him "overrated" and said his humour no longer feels natural.
The remarks came on Cyrus Says, Broacha's YouTube talk show, where comedian, actor and improviser Shantanu Anam was his guest. Broacha admitted that Dilip gets on his nerves. He felt the cook was likeable in his first few appearances but now seems to be performing all the time, and to him Dilip came across as "a fraud". He also guessed that Farah hands Dilip his lines before he goes off on his own, and said he sometimes senses Dilip's heart is not in it.
Anam did not agree. He told Broacha that nobody else in the world disliked Dilip, and called the cook lovable and sweet.
Viewers have warmed to Dilip as Farah visits one celebrity home after another. Many praise his easy wit, his humble manner and his quick back and forth with her.
That fame has changed his life. In 2025, speaking to Soha Ali Khan on Soha's YouTube channel, Farah said she had spent a year clearing Dilip's debts and had warned him against borrowing on interest. He is now building a house in his hometown in Bihar, and Farah said she was trying to bring brands on board so the house would cost him nothing. She also put his children in an English-medium school and helped one of his sons enrol in a culinary diploma course.
In one vlog, Dilip recalled starting out in Delhi on just ₹300, and said his first salary at Farah's home was ₹20,000. Farah has since said his pay has grown a lot, especially after her channel took off, and that he also gets extra pay or a share of the vlog earnings.
