Controversial Director To Helm Epic Mahabharata Trilogy Amidst Backlash

Director Vivek Agnihotri, known for past controversial statements, is set to direct a Mahabharata trilogy, sparking criticism and demands for an apology.

The dream of creating a grand visual spectacle based on the legendary Mahabharata epic has been cherished by many Indian filmmakers, including the renowned director SS Rajamouli, known for films like Baahubali and RRR. While Rajamouli's plans for a Mahabharata adaptation are yet to be announced, there's a surprising revelation in the Hindi film industry.

Recent updates from Hindi film circles suggest that Vivek Agnihotri, the director behind films like "The Kashmir Files" and "The Vaccine War," is set to direct a massive trilogy based on the Mahabharata. An official announcement is expected soon, and filming for the first part of the trilogy is slated to begin early next year.

For this ambitious trilogy, Vivek Agnihotri will be adapting the best-selling novel "Parva," authored by Padma Bhushan Dr. SL Bhyrappa. The film will be produced by Vivek Agnihotri's wife and actress Pallavi Joshi. It's worth noting that Vivek had made controversial statements about the Mahabharata and Hindu deities in the past, which has sparked some criticism and demands for an apology from a section of netizens.

This revised version maintains the key information while presenting it in a neutral and objective manner.
