Vivek Agnihotri

Vivek Agnihotri is a Hindi film director, writer and producer. He is best known for The Tashkent Files (2019), The Kashmir Files (2022) and The Vaccine War (2023). His writing on The Tashkent Files earned him a National Film Award for Best Screenplay. Agnihotri began his directing career with the crime thriller Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets in 2005. He went on to make Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal (2007), Hate Story (2012), Zid (2014), Buddha in a Traffic Jam (2016) and Junooniyat (2016), but these films did little to move his career ahead. The change came with The Tashkent Files (2019), which turned into a commercial success. He then wrote and directed The Kashmir Files (2022), which ranked among the highest-grossing Indian films of 2022. He followed it with the medical drama The Vaccine War in 2023, and in 2025 he directed, wrote and produced The Bengal Files. Agnihotri often works on his films in many roles at once. On The Tashkent Files alone he served as director, producer, story writer, screenplay writer, dialogue writer and lyricist. His best-known films share the "Files" title, a series that runs from Tashkent to Kashmir and Bengal. Besides his National Film Award for Best Screenplay in 2021, The Kashmir Files won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration.
