Adivi Sesh writes to Assam government over resort plan near Kaziranga

Adivi Sesh has written to the Assam government, asking it to take a fresh look at a proposed resort development near Kaziranga National Park.

In his letter, the actor calls for full transparency about the land involved and for independent environmental assessments wherever they are needed. "Nature does not belong to us; we are only its temporary custodians," he wrote.

Sesh pointed to the greater one-horned rhinoceros as a symbol of Assam and of the region's rich biodiversity. He warned that once an animal loses its habitat or a natural corridor is broken, restoring the balance can be very hard, and sometimes impossible.

The actor accepted that tourism creates jobs and supports the local economy. Still, he said building in ecologically sensitive areas must follow a long-term vision. "This is not about opposing development; it is about asking for development that is thoughtful, responsible and sustainable," he wrote.

His worry goes beyond the rhinos. Sesh said families have lived in and around Kaziranga for generations, and their livelihoods and traditions are tied to the land. Their voices, he argued, must be part of any decision about the area, because conservation cannot succeed if those people are left out.

Sesh asked that every ecological, legal and community question be examined before any irreversible decision is made, saying Kaziranga's wildlife, forests and people must be protected for future generations.
