Yuvarathnaa

Story

After seeing the tragic suicide of a poor but brilliant girl student, RK university college starts fighting against the commercialization of education. Corrupt central education minister (Sai Kumar) and the rival college head (Diganth) and RK University Vice-Principal (Avinash) plans to privatize the college. Then a resilient student named Arjun (Puneeth Rajkumar) comes to support Gurudev Deshmukh. What is the connection between them? Why is Arjun supporting Gurudev? Will he succeed in protecting the college? forms the rest of the story. 

Review 

All the actors delivered decent performances in the film. But it seems like the director gave more importance to showcase the lead actor's role in a heroic way. He elevated the character so much that the movie felt unrealistic at one point of time. Also, the basic plotline is very much simple and doesn't have any major twists and also the draggy scenes in the second half became the became a major setback.  

Director Santosh tried to convey a strong message regarding the education system and also give more equal importance to the commercial elements in the film. The story has nothing new and also the characters are ordinary. Music by Thaman is too good. His 'Pathshala' song will leave an impact and his BGM is also impressive. Production values are grand. Cinematography is decent. editing could have been better especially in the second half as some of the scenes felt dragged.  

Puneeth Rajkumar's performance is too good. He carried the entire movie on his shoulders. He is a perfect fit for the character and excelled in terms of his performance. Prakash Raj's captivating performance became one of the biggest strengths of the film. His screen presence is too good. Sayyeshaa Saigal doesn't have much scope for performance but she is decent in her role. Dhananjay and Diganth delivered energetic performances. Avinash is good in his role. The rest of the actors also made their presence felt. 

Verdict 

Yuvarathnaa has a very simple plotline and a routine conflict but a strong message. But, it became a hero-dominated movie with so many cinematic liberties.
