Laxman Utekar

Laxman Utekar is an Indian director and cinematographer who works mainly in Hindi cinema and has also made films in Marathi. He is best known for directing Mimi (2021), Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023) and the period action drama Chhaava (2025), and for his camera work on English Vinglish (2012) and Dear Zindagi (2016). Utekar built his name behind the camera, shooting Blue (2009) and Dekh Indian Circus (2011) before English Vinglish (2012) brought his work to wide audiences. He took up direction in 2014 with the Marathi film Tapaal, yet kept serving as director of photography on Lekar Hum Deewana Dil (2014), Tevar (2015), Dear Zindagi (2016), Hindi Medium (2017) and 102 Not Out (2018). He then directed the comic romance Luka Chuppi (2019), followed by Mimi (2021), a comic drama, and Nazar Andaaz (2022). Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023), another light romance, came next. For Chhaava (2025) he served as director and story writer, and he both directed and produced Eetha (2026). Utekar stands out for moving easily between the camera and the director's chair. He has written stories and screenplays for his own films and has produced titles such as Ittu Si Baat (2022) and Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam (2024). On Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) he worked as both producer and cinematographer.
