Gopichand Malineni

Gopichand Malineni is a Telugu filmmaker who both directs and writes, building a career on big, crowd-pleasing entertainers. Audiences know Malineni best for Krack, Veera Simha Reddy and Balupu, and Krack earned a nomination for Best Director – Telugu at the South Indian International Movie Awards in 2021. Before taking charge of a film, Malineni spent years learning the trade behind the camera, serving as co-director on Kantri (2008) and working on Billa (2009). The move to directing came with Don Seenu (2010), an action comedy. Bodyguard (2012) and Balupu (2013) followed, with Malineni also writing the screenplay for both. Pandaga Chesko (2015) came next, then a story credit on Badsha - the Don (2016) and the film Winner (2017). Krack (2021) stands as a turning point, with Malineni writing its story as well as directing it. Veera Simha Reddy (2023) brought another hit, and Jaat (2025) and Dada (2026) continued the run, both with Malineni handling the writing too. Malineni also made an appearance on Unstoppable with NBK in 2021. Malineni's films are known for bold action, strong heroes and mass appeal. Writing the story or screenplay for most projects gives Malineni close control over how each film takes shape.
