Cheliya is dubbed from Tamil hit Kaatru Veliyidai. It is about a self-centred Airforce pilot, Varun (Karthi) who falls deeply in love with a doctor, Leela (Aditi Rao) who too reciprocates to his proposal but is unable to handle the relationship owing to the intensity of their contrasting personalities.

Rajinikanth is a college going youth who falls in love with Leela, his sister's best friend. As time passes by, he gets close to Leela and takes her for a long road trip.
