Yesterday, on the occasion of Vijay Deverakonda's birthday, the makers of his 12th movie unveiled a striking concept poster. The poster featured Vijay's face shredded into pieces of paper, which drew comparisons to Ben Affleck's film Argo and a few other movies. Some netizens even alleged that the VD12 makers had plagiarized the poster.
However, this afternoon, VD12 producer Naga Vamsi responded to the allegations in his own way. He took to Twitter and shared similar posters from other movies like Satyajit Ray's Agantuk, Kaithi, The Bourne Legacy, and even VD12 itself. He urged people to understand the context of the concept before passing judgment and reminded them that the idea of shredding or stripping identities is as old as secret agencies.
While Naga Vamsi's tweet received mixed reactions, it's yet to be seen whether or not the actual film is inspired by any movie. Vijay plays the role of a cop in this yet-to-be-titled movie, and Sreeleela, a young and talented actress, plays the female lead. The movie is being directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who previously directed the critically acclaimed film Jersey.
