Tanushree Dutta doubles down on Nana Patekar remarks, compares him to Raavan
Tanushree Dutta has stood by what she said after Nana Patekar's death, citing the burning of Raavan effigies to answer her critics and calling the late actor manipulative and a liar.
Tanushree Dutta has refused to back away from the comments she made after Nana Patekar died on Thursday, October 8. She went live on video to answer the people who criticised her.
In the live video, she said that anyone upset about her speaking ill of a man after his death should also stop burning effigies of Raavan. She then called Patekar wicked, cunning, manipulative and a liar, and said she would keep speaking the truth because she is not scared.
Her first reaction came as she boarded a flight to Lucknow for an event. She said she had heard the news but wanted to focus on her workday, and that she worried the evening's coverage would be all about what she called "evil dead". She offered condolences to the family before the clip cut off.
Since then she has reshared a post by Sandhya Mridul asking whether an abuser stops being one after death. She also reshared a video about how she refused to do an unscripted intimate step with Patekar.
Dutta accused Patekar of sexual harassment on the set of the 2009 film Horn 'Ok' Pleassss, and the claim became public in 2018 during the Me Too movement. An FIR was registered, and Patekar denied the allegations. The case was closed in 2019 for lack of sufficient evidence. In 2025, a magistrate court in Andheri, Mumbai dismissed the criminal proceedings because the complaint had been filed after the legal time limit.
