Nayanthara and Kavin's Hi Set for ZEE5 Premiere on September 25

Nayanthara and Kavin's romantic comedy Hi is coming to the small screen. ZEE5 holds the streaming rights and has announced that the film will start streaming on September 25, 2026. Hi is the first film directed by Vishnu Edavan.

The film reportedly opened in theatres on August 28, 2026, in Tamil and Telugu. Reports say it did not do very well at the box office. For now, the streamer has reportedly announced only the Tamil version, so Telugu fans are still waiting for news of theirs. There is no word yet on when the Telugu version will arrive.

According to reports, the story follows Mayilsaami, known as Mayil, a shy young man who leaves his village for Chennai after his cousin, whom he has loved since childhood, turns him down. In the city he meets Devayani, who is running away from an unhappy arranged marriage and a hard home life. When their families come to take them back, Mayil falsely says Devayani is carrying his child. He also makes up a Pakistani girlfriend to get her to go along with the lie.

Believing the story, the families fix a wedding, and Devayani moves in with Mayil's family. Things fall apart once the fake pregnancy comes out. Along the way, Devayani finds her mother, Usha, after years apart, and learns that Mayil was the one who tracked her down. When she realises the girlfriend never existed and that Mayil loved her all along, she tells him how she feels.

The supporting cast includes Prabhu, K. Bhagyaraj, Radikaa Sarathkumar and VTV Ganesh, along with Poornima Bhagyaraj, Sathyan, Amrutha Srinivasan and Adithya Kathir. Suhasini Maniratnam reportedly appears in a cameo. Jen Martin composed the music. Rajesh Shukla reportedly handled the camera and Philomin Raj the editing. Vignesh Shivan, Nayanthara and SS Lalit Kumar reportedly produced the film together.
