Nag Ashwin Highlights Key Distinction Between 'Kalki' and Hollywood Sci-Fi Films

The much-anticipated sci-fi thriller, "Kalki 2898 AD," featuring pan-India stars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, created a global buzz when its title was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con in July. Recently, the film's team took center stage at the IIT Bombay Techfest, unveiling specially curated content that further heightened excitement.

Director Nag Ashwin, speaking at the Techfest, addressed comparisons to Hollywood sci-fi movies, emphasizing that "Kalki 2898 AD" marks the first true sci-fi venture in Indian cinema. Ashwin shared, "Kalki is a different film, set in a completely new world. While Hollywood has showcased futuristic cities, our film will portray how Indian cities evolve in the future, offering a strong Indian connect."

With the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles, the film is produced by Ashwini Dutt under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner. The eagerly awaited theatrical trailer is expected to debut in 93 days, targeting a release around March 31 or April 1, 2024.
