Jitin Gulati recalls first meeting Prabhas on Fauzi set, likens it to Baahubali
Jitin Gulati, who plays a part in Prabhas's Fauzi, says the star felt like Amarendra Baahubali walking onto the set, yet stays easy going and never carries the weight of his fame.
Actor Jitin Gulati is taking a bigger step into South Indian cinema, and his first stop is Fauzi, the Prabhas period drama directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. In a recent interview, he looked back on the first time he saw the Rebel Star on set. He said it felt as if Amarendra Baahubali himself was walking in.
The moment came last year, during a shoot in Hyderabad. Jitin described Prabhas leaving his vanity van and coming down the steps with a certain aura around him, before the two had even said hello. He was quick to add that Prabhas does not carry the weight of his stardom at all. He called him easy going and one of the most endearing actors he has worked with.
Jitin also reportedly explained how fast the Fauzi role came to him. According to reports, his photos reached the director while he happened to be in Hyderabad, and he was called for a meeting that same day. He met Hanu Raghavapudi at 5:30 PM, and by 5:40 PM he had been told the part was his, the quickest he has ever landed a film. He said the shoot has had long gaps, which he put down to the big scale of the project.
Fauzi reportedly led straight to his second Telugu film. People on the Fauzi team, including one of the assistant directors, saw his rushes and recommended him to Prasanth Varma, and that meeting brought him Mahakali. Jitin said he had always wanted to be part of the director's cinematic universe. Mahakali also stars Akshaye Khanna, and both films are set to release in 2027.
Jitin made his film debut with Warning 3D in 2013. Since then he has worked in projects such as M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Inside Edge, Broken But Beautiful and Bambai Meri Jaan. Before films, he reportedly modelled in more than 100 advertising campaigns. Prabhas, meanwhile, is reportedly also busy with Spirit, a cop action drama directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
