Dorothy beats Revolver Rita's lifetime total in five days, Keerthy Suresh thanks fans

Keerthy Suresh's new Tamil film Dorothy, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is reportedly holding firm at the box office through its first week. The film also stars Sananth and Rishikanth, and its bold, controversial content has sparked plenty of debate on social media. That buzz appears to be working in the film's favour.

According to reports, Dorothy collected 85 lakh net on its first Tuesday, the same as its Monday figure, with occupancy steady at around 33%. Monday itself reportedly dropped only about 5% from the opening day. The five-day net total is said to stand at 5.25 crore, or roughly 6.2 crore gross, and Tamil Nadu alone accounts for more than 5 crore gross. The reported day-wise run reads 0.9 crore, 1.25 crore, 1.4 crore, 0.85 crore and 0.85 crore.

That total already puts Dorothy ahead of the lifetime India collection of Revolver Rita, Keerthy's 2025 release in which she played the title role. That film reportedly ended its theatrical run at 3.99 crore net and under 5 crore gross.

The actress has also marked the film's release with an emotional social media post, sharing behind-the-scenes pictures from the shoot. "Dorothy took a little piece of my heart, and I hope I left a little piece of mine with you all," she wrote, thanking viewers for their love. She thanked Karthik Subbaraj for trusting her with a project close to his heart, and described working with composer Ilaiyaraaja as a memory that will stay with her for life.

She also thanked her co-stars Rishikanth and Sananth, cinematographer Tirru, whom she called her Guru, and her makeup and styling teams, along with the producers and the whole cast and crew.

Set in 1990s rural Tamil Nadu, Dorothy follows two inseparable childhood friends, Karthi and Subbu, in a society shaped by caste, violence and toxic masculinity. Their lives change when Dorothy arrives, a woman whose quiet compassion challenges the world around them. The film is Ilaiyaraaja's first collaboration with Karthik Subbaraj, and it is produced by Guneet Monga Kapoor, Achin Jain and Jyoti Deshpande.
