Bhansali and Alia Bhatt may revive Inshallah after Love And War

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's long-stalled Inshallah could be back on the table. Reports say the filmmaker and Alia Bhatt are looking at reviving the project once their current film, Love And War, is out of the way. Nothing has been officially announced, and the film is still at a very early planning stage.

Inshallah first made news in 2019, when it was set up with Alia Bhatt and Salman Khan in the lead roles. The film never reached the floors. Salman Khan reportedly stepped away shortly before shooting was due to begin, and the project was shelved.

Bhansali and Alia then teamed up for Gangubai Kathiawadi instead, a film that won Alia a National Award for her performance. The two are now working together again on Love And War, which also features Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.

The revived Inshallah will not simply pick up the 2019 version where it stopped. The script is reportedly being reworked with a fresh approach, though the core story is expected to stay the same. Bhansali is said to want the screenplay finalised before any casting call is made.

That leaves the male lead wide open. Shah Rukh Khan's name was linked to the role earlier, but no actor has been confirmed. A source quoted in reports said Salman is busy with a film for Raj and DK, while Shah Rukh has not picked his next project after King. The same source added that the story might even suit a younger actor.

For now, the focus stays on Love And War. Whether Alia's co-star in Inshallah turns out to be Salman, Shah Rukh or a fresh face will depend on where the new script lands.
