Ananya Panday welcomes Ganpati Bappa home with her family

Ananya Panday made it back home just in time for Ganesh Chaturthi, and the actress marked the day with her family. She posted a set of pictures on Instagram showing the arrival of the Ganpati idol, along with a short note that summed up her mood.

"Back home just in time for my fave to come home. Ganpati Bappa Morya," she wrote with the post. For the Student of the Year 2 actress, the caption made it clear that the festival is close to her heart.

The pictures show Ananya with her parents, Chunky Panday and Bhavna Pandey, standing beside the idol, which was decorated with flowers and festive trimmings. She wore a multicoloured suit for the occasion and posed with folded hands in front of the deity. One frame also features her pet dog, with the actress striking a playful pose next to it.

Ganesh Chaturthi marks the birth of Lord Ganesha and is celebrated across the country for 10 days. Families install decorated idols, offer prayers and close the festival with the immersion of the idols. Ananya was not the only film name welcoming Bappa this year. Divya Dutta, Sunita Ahuja, Tusshar Kapoor, Genelia Deshmukh and Riteish Deshmukh were among those who shared their own celebrations on social media.

The festival is a family affair for the actress. Reports say she celebrated it at her Mumbai home last year as well, with her parents and her sister Rysa. Separately, she has also been sharing sunny pictures from a coastal getaway, posing in a neon pink and orange cutout monokini with a printed sarong tied at the waist.

On the work front, Ananya was last seen in Chand Mera Dil alongside Lakshya Lalwani. Directed by Vivek Soni, the film reportedly reached theatres across India on May 22. It follows two college students whose romance is tested as they step into adult life and its responsibilities. Her earlier work in the cyber thriller CTRL and the series Call Me Bae reportedly earned her strong praise.
