800: The Remarkable Journey Of Cricket Legend Muralitharan Comes To The Big Screen

Renowned Sri Lankan cricket legend, known for his remarkable record of over 800 wickets in International cricket, a feat unparalleled by any other cricketer to date, is now the subject of an upcoming biographical film titled '800.' The film is currently in production under the banner of Movie Train Motion Pictures, directed by MS Sripathy, and features Slumdog Millionaire star Madhur Mittal and Mahima Nambiar in lead roles. Booker Prize-winning author Shehan Karunatilaka is co-writing the screenplay.

In a significant development, Sivalenka Krishna Prasad, a veteran producer associated with Sridevi Movies, has secured the all-India theatrical rights for the film.

Originally shot in Tamil, '800' will enjoy a wide release in Telugu, Hindi, and English languages. This ambitious project has been extensively filmed in diverse locations, including Sri Lanka, England, Australia, Kochin, Chandigarh, and Chennai, boasting a lavish production budget.

Reflecting on the venture, Sivalenka Krishna Prasad commented, "Bringing Muralitharan's life story to the silver screen is an immense undertaking. His journey, marked by resilience in the face of adversity, is truly inspiring. With a record-breaking 800 wickets to his name, our film aptly commemorates his legacy, tracing his path from childhood to cricketing legend."

Having previously achieved success with the pan-India release of 'Yashoda' last year, Sivalenka Krishna Prasad is now poised to present '800' to audiences across India. The film is currently in the post-production phase, with plans for a release in October, accompanied by the launch of the trailer in September.
