Ram, a decent young man, arrives in a small village with his dog Moti. The village lives in fear of Thakur Vijay Singh, who holds all the power and bends it to his own gain. His men, such as Munim Banwarilal, make daily life hard for the poor. When Ram's ride breaks down near the village, he meets Bijli, and the two slowly fall in love.
Ram cannot stand by while the families around him suffer. He takes their side, speaks up for what they are owed and backs a couple who wish to marry. Each act of kindness puts him closer to a clash with the Thakur, who is not used to being challenged.
