Surya is an insurance agent with a fierce temper. As a boy, he gave his mother, Chayadevi, his word that he would let his anger out only on Saturdays. He notes every wrong in a journal and settles scores only on that one day. This habit pushes his family away, especially his sister Bhadra.
Later, Surya meets Charulatha, a constable at the Sokulapalem police station. Sokulapalem's people are shunned for their ancestors' crimes and beaten down by Inspector Dayanand, a brutal officer feuding with his politician brother, Koormanand. As Surya grows close to Charulatha, her quiet effort to shield the locals becomes his own fight.
