A cop falls in love with a girl whose father wouldn’t approve of a groom from a different caste. Vijay (Vijaykanth) is a sub-inspector, who falls in love with Uma (Viji), a college student. Coincidentally, Uma's family moves in as tenants in his house. However, Uma's father won’t accept a groom from a different caste. The story takes a twist when Uma attempts suicide and later, a bunch of robbers holds Vijay’s family hostage
