Storyline

The film is set in the small village of Buchinaidu Kandriga, Chittoor district. The film is a period drama and showcases the love of Balu(Munna) and Swapna(Drishika Chander). Balu is in love with Swapna from a very young age. After a while, even Swapna falls for him and the couple elopes shocking their parents. This does not go well with Swapna’s dad Veeraswamy(Ravi Varma) who is strictly against this match. What does he do and what happens to the couple in due course of time is the whole story of the film.

Story

Balu (Munna) and Swapna (Drishika Chander) are childhood neighbours who as usual fall in love when time is ripe. The crux of this village based love story revolves around Swapna’s father, Veeraswamy (Ravi Varma), a caste obsessed person and what he does to protect his honour while the couple struggles to save their love.

Review

A routine age-old film that lacks the tenacity to keep the audience hooked. The main theme, honour killing is no more relevant these days and when the director Poluru Krishna decided to go with this he should have been more focused. One can directly skip to the last half an hour which to some extent is watchable.

Performance-wise, the main lead adds no acting value. The only saviour is the character of Balu’s father played prolifically by Subba Rao (C/o Kancharapalem fame). In fact, his episodes are the only ones that the audience can eagerly watch. Ravi Varma as an antagonist has performed well.

Clubbed with lack of gripping story is the rushing climax which tries to convey more points than one can take. The poor technical values such as mediocre photography and a routine kind of music we hear in all love stories further ruined the film. The humour is not worthy.

Verdict

Had the middle part been as intriguing as the opening and ending of the film, it would have made sense to the public and have garnered value for such a sensitive lined story.
