Story

Asmee is a dark-themed suspense film whose story revolves around an innocent woman, Asmee, who fell victim to a hideous man's sadistic muses. Asmee gets abducted by a man and gets locked in a room for 4 long years. She was barely fed and taken care of and she was mercilessly tortured. This shatters her mental state and sends her into oblivion where she rages to get justice for herself even if it's done unlawfully. Asmee manages to finally escape and finds out Rajesh (Keshav Deepika) is the monster behind her non-stop torment. She doesn't think twice and trusting her gut feeling she viciously murders him catering to her sense of justice. Unfortunately, turns out, the man she killed wasn't the one behind her torture but it was Siva (Raja Narendra). Will Asmee will truly get her justice? How will she get away with the murder that could have her arrested? Watch the film to get the answers to these mind-twisting questions.

Review

Asmee is a dark-themed film that should come with several trigger warnings since it is not suitable for sensitive audiences who cannot fathom the trauma and gore. Although coming to the plot, the writer/person behind the film plot did a great job curating a story that has the potential of what could be a great suspense thriller. The main lead of this film, Rushika Raj, carried the entire film in her palms as she sways the audience away with her remarkably astounding performance. She brilliantly portrayed the trauma, despondency and emotional wrath of people who experience the horror of being kidnapped and tortured.

What weighs down this film into disappointment is the poor performances of the supporting cast. With a sensitive film like this, we expect the supporting cast to have a little more personality and profundity that was entirely missing in this film.

Some feels also feel very much exaggerated and the acting goes feeble in the scenes that suck out the thrill of watching this film. The director did a decent job carrying out the climax of the film.

Due to these drawbacks, the acting of Rushika Raj is discredited and clouded out of appreciation.

Verdict

This film is worth watching for its gory concept and Rushika Raj's fine acting.
