Story

Isaak Ibrahem (Tovino Thomas) toils more than a human can to direct his first film and surprisingly the movie gets official entry to Oscars from India. Making a movie itself is a herculean task for someone like Ibrahem hailing from a town like Kannur. The next big things that await him are the politics and games at the Oscars. How this man faces all these is what the director (Salim Ahamed) says in 'And the Oscar Goes To'

Review

The movie perfectly sticks to its limits and one should appreciate the director for his realistic approach. It acutely showcases how success in the film industry changes equations and how people go that extra mile to taste success in this industry.

The film has enough emotions that make viewers travel through the saga. Tovino is spontaneous in his act and is felt all through the movie. His expressions and intensity saved the film in places where the scenes were just melodramatic. Anu Sithara’s role is subtle but is needed. On the other side, we have Salim Kumar who amazes us with his emotions and expressions. Rest of the actors too played their roles with ease.

Despite the best performances, the 2nd half looks dragged and dramatic due to a few sequences, especially the PR episodes and the gibe at the 2nd gen Indians in the US.

Verdict:

A good movie about how one should keep that perseverance if making big in the film world is the dream.
