Akbar leaves his wife Raziya to find work in Saudi Arabia, where he becomes close friends with Raghu Rama Iyer and John Kuruvila. A quarrel over money he lent to a colleague turns into a fight, and a Saudi court sentences Akbar to death. Only a written pardon from Ganga, Raghu's wife, can save him.
Raziya travels to Palakkad with her father, Abdu, to ask Ganga for that pardon. Ganga's in-laws and community want nothing to do with them, and Ganga herself is torn between her grief and the pressure of the people around her. Raziya refuses to give up, knowing her husband's life depends on one signature.
