Story

The movie centers on the love story of a couple in their mid-twenties confronting their class divide. Set in the backdrop of old Hyderabad, unemployed Salman son of a small-time antique dealer with an easy-go lifestyle falls head over heels for Rukhsar a college-going girl who hails from the family of Nawabs. They meet each other at a mutual friend’s wedding for the very first time. Despite the difference in their social statuses, will they get approval from their families or will they get separated by their families forms the main plot of this movie.

Review

The word 'Bolo Hau' literally means ‘Say Yes’ in the Hyderabadi language. Hence, the tagline of the movie translates ‘Say Yes To Love’. Writer-director Tarun Dhanrajgir has co-written this romantic saga with Abid Shah. Together they blend the Hyderabadi culture, language, and essence into the movie, along with the songs which have the Hyderabadi touch. The story draws the audience towards it with the Hyderabadi slang and a look of it carved out from the own backyard.

Director introduces editor-turned-actress daughter, Jahnavi Dhanrajgir, in ‘Bolo Hau’, who is also the editor of the film. Full-on marks for her role as Rukhsar but as an editor, she is yet to work on it. The climax and a couple of other scenes have been ended abruptly. The on-screen chemistry between the lead, the pair lacks the passion required for making it a classy love story.

Although Gullu Baba’s (Adnan Sajid Khan) dialogues are unfunny, his character as the third tier to this love story is quite confusing.

Rukhsar’s mother Begum (Preeti Nigam) plays a pivotal role in driving the narrative forward. She does a good job as a strict mother, maintaining a loud tone throughout the movie.

Overall, ‘Bolo Hau’ is the same old story presented with a different touch.

Verdict

A good entertainer is simply good for a weekend watch.
