Gumnaami is a 2019 Bengali film about the long-running mystery of what happened to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. In 2003, the journalist Chandrachur Dhar, played by Anirban Bhattacharya, is given the task of writing a detailed report on it.
The story centres on the Mukherjee Commission hearings, held between 1999 and 2005, where three explanations for Bose's death or disappearance are argued. Chandrachur backs the belief that Bose lived on as the holy man known as Gumnaami Baba. The official lawyer defends the plane crash account, and a theory of death in Russia also enters the debate. Prosenjit Chatterjee plays Bose.
