Gandu is a lonely teenager in Kolkata who raps in Bengali and has no real name in the story. His mother is supported by her lover Dasbabu, and Gandu secretly takes money from Dasbabu's wallet to pay for drugs and games at his internet café. At school and around town, other young people mock him for his shaved head and his habits.
Things change when he runs into Ricksha, a cycle rickshaw driver. The two become close, and Gandu asks Ricksha to take him away. Together they chase intense highs and wander through strange, dreamlike episodes. Gandu is also driven by a wish to record his music and be heard, while the people around him keep pushing him down.
