Vijay and Sunil are small-time thieves who cannot stand each other. Each works for a different gang boss, and each boss sends him to the same school with the same job: kidnap Bittoo, the son of the wealthy Seth Mathur, and ask for a big payment in return.
Both men arrive under false names and take up teaching posts. Sunil, known at the school as Laxman, handles music, and he meets Shalu, a dance teacher. Vijay keeps watch on the boy and on his rival. As the days pass, the two men must hide who they really are from the people around them, and the job they came for grows harder to carry out.
