Story

Inspired by true events, Palasa 1978 is the story of two brothers from a lower caste who choose violence to find a better way in life. Mohan Rao and Ranga Rao are folk performers who kill a strong henchman and usurp power in the region. 

Analysis 

Palasa 1978 is amazing in that it strikes a balance between ideology and reality. Karuna Kumar has wonderfully depicted the harsh nature of caste oppression and the ugly forms it takes through generations. It is an offbeat film that will give you an idea of the social structure and how crime worked. The film doesnt flinch from the narrative citing 'commercial elements' and that's what is highly laudable.
