    Story

Maestro is a Telugu crime thriller which revolves around the story of a man named Arun (Nithiin). Arun is a blind man who is also a pianist in Goa. He goes through his life as a blind man, but one day, a famous yesteryear actor (Naresh) notices his talent and asks him to perform for his wife (Tamannaah) on their wedding anniversary party. On the night of the party, he gets involved in a grisly murder, and is put under heavy suspicion. Who was murdered, What will Arun do to escape the murder case? What is the role of Tamannaah in this scenario? The answers to all these questions define the plot of the story.

    Review

Maestro is a crime thriller which is a remake of the critically acclaimed Hindi movie Andhadhun starring Aayushman Khurrana. Naturally there would be parallels drawn from the both of them, there would be a lot of comparisons made between them. This movie manages to dodge most of them. Nithiin has taken up a serious role this time, and he tries his best to provide justice to it. His efforts are visible, and the aura he emits adds to the darkness of the plot. Tamannaah does a splendid job as the antagonist, every dialog of hers is beautifully delivered. She adapted herself perfectly to the role assigned to her, like a chameleon. The role given to Nabha Natesh was small, and it would've been better if her role had more weight and impact to it. The story is pretty similar to the original, but the direction, screenplay try to differentiate between them. The setting of this movie in Goa was a wise choice, as a lot of the movie's atmosphere was perfectly portrayed. But the impact of the drama, the shock value was very muted, very dull. It would've been better if some changes were made to the plot, but alas this is the curse of remakes, they can never compare to the original, they always fade in front of the huge impact the original had caused in the past. The flow and cadence were nice, but sometimes a misplaced song can add a lot of irritation in the flow, and it would've been best if the songs were omitted out of important cliffhangers.

    Verdict

This movie is a good watch for someone who likes crime and suspense. Watching out for the lackluster twists is advised.
