Merlapaka Gandhi

Merlapaka Gandhi, written as మేర్లపాక గాంధీ in Telugu, is a director and writer in the Telugu film industry. He is best known for Venkatadri Express, Express Raja and Krishnarjuna Yuddham, three films he directed, and he often writes the story and screenplay of the projects he leads. His first film as director was Venkatadri Express in 2013. He went back behind the camera for Express Raja in 2016, the same year he received a story credit on Love Express. In 2018 he directed Krishnarjuna Yuddham, with Nani in the lead role, and also wrote its story, screenplay and dialogue. He then directed Maestro in 2021, and that year he also wrote the story, screenplay and dialogue for Ek Mini Katha. Like Share & Subscribe followed in 2022 with Gandhi as director. He later directed Korean Kanakaraju (2026), for which he also wrote the story. Gandhi is a filmmaker who works on both sides of a script, shaping his films as a writer before guiding them as a director. Several of his titles share the word "Express", a thread that links Venkatadri Express, Express Raja and Love Express. This mix of writing and directing has stayed at the heart of his work in Telugu cinema across more than a decade of films.
