    Story

LKG is mostly a satisfying political satire that represents the bitter facts of what happens in real-life politics. The plot of this film revolves around a middle-class person named LKG (Lalgudi Karuppaiah Gandhi) who has high ambitions of becoming a nationally known politician. But after he completes this goal along with achieving new heights of success, LKG also learns the dark side of politics no one wants to meddle with. Will he unravel a way to gun down the hideous political system? Or will he succumb as a victim to this vicious system. The answer to these questions forms the crux of this film.

    Review

It is a considerably good movie among the recent bunch of political dramas. The story doesn't digress too much at any point. LKG has avoided a lot of commercial additives that we see in such classic political genre films and it has stayed true to its intention. It is successful in efficiently managing to strike a balance between idealism and cynicism, and showing the opinions of the common man towards politics. It manages to achieve this thanks to the characterization of its protagonist, LKG. He is not in politics for the people, but himself. His street-smart wit is utilized to its fullest capabilities, and he does not miss in gauging the interest of the audience. It is quite generous in using pop culture and social media references to entice the viewers further and to propel the story forward. The soundtrack is a hit amongst the classic South Indian music lovers. The only places where it was disappointing were the lack of a solid character in the female protagonist, and a shoddy romantic angle, which failed to take off, and was added weight to the film. All in all, it is a watchable movie, with a good plot, which was relayed smoothly by RJ Balaji, despite it having a couple of flaws.

    Verdict

It is a good movie, which can be enjoyed by the average audience.
