Rathna Kumar

Rathna Kumar, also credited as Rathnakumar, is a writer and director who works in Tamil cinema. He is best known as the director of Meyaadha Maan (2017). He also wrote the dialogues for Master (2021) and both the story and dialogues for Leo (2023). Over the years he has moved between making his own films and writing for big productions led by other filmmakers. His screen career began in 2014 with an acting role in Snehavin Kadhalarkal. A year later he wrote a story for Bench Talkies (2015). His breakthrough came with Meyaadha Maan (2017), which he directed and also wrote, and for which he penned lyrics as well. He followed it with Aame (2019), again serving as both director and story writer. He then joined the writing team of Master (2021) for its dialogues, and in 2022 he directed Gulu Gulu. His work on Leo (2023) covered both the story and the dialogues. In 2026 he received story credits on 29 and Sardar 2. Rathna Kumar is known for the range of roles he takes on behind the camera. On a single project he has worked as director, story writer and lyricist, and he has written dialogue for some of the most watched Tamil releases of his time.
