Hardik Mehta is a noted scriptwriter and director who is known for his movies like Trapped, Paataal Lok, Roohi etc. Hardik Mehta graduated from A.J.K. Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia and received a degree in Mass Communications. After graduation, he spent some time working with some popular celebrities in film industry such as Dev Benegal, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl etc. He used to supervise scripts. In 2013, Hardik Mehta first wielded the mega phone for a 20 minute short film 'Skin Deep' which is a short film is based on the story by Vikramaditya Motwane and it is one of the four short films from Char Cutting anthology.  Later, Hardik Mehta helmed his own short documentary 'Amdavad Ma Famous' in 2017. Hardik wrote and directed a short film, 'The Affair'. He also wrote the script for 2017 released survival thriller, 'Trapped', Hardik Mehta also got an opportunity to be a part of documentary film on Sachin Tendulkar. He has co-written highly acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series 'Paatal Lok'. Hardik Mehta marked his directorial debut with feature film 'Roohi' in 2021. Starring Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Janhvi Kapoor, the film has failed to impress the audience at the box office. Hardik Mehta's 'Amdavad Ma Famous' received so many prestigious awards including Best Short Documentary Award at Budapest International Documentary Festival in 2015, the Jury Prize for Best Short Documentary at Al Jazeera International Documentary Festival in 2015, the Golden Conch for Best Documentary and Best Editor at the 14th Mumbai International Film Festival in 2016.  At the 63rd Belgrade Film Festival, the short film won the Golden Plaque in International Competition for Best Documentary Short. It also won Best Foreign Documentary at the 2016 River Film Festival in Italy, as well as the 2016 'All Sports Film Festival' in LA. It also won the Special Mention Jury Award at the 2016 International Documentary and Shorts Film Festival of Kerala and the Smile International Film Festival for Children and Youth.  Hardik Mehta's father Mukul Mehta is a retired bank manager from Indian Overseas Bank and his morher Veena Mehta is a housewife. He also has a sibling Nimrit Mehta. Hardik is married to writer-producer Akanksha Tewari.
