Unni Mukundan Interview On Yashoda

'Yashoda' starring Samantha in the title role is produced by noted producer Shivalenka Krishna Prasad under the banner of Sridevi Movies. Directed by Hari and Harish, it stars Unni Mukundan in the lead role. After 'Janatha Garage', 'Bhaagamathie' and 'Khiladi', this is his second Telugu film. The film will be released worldwide on November 11 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Unni Mukundan interacted with the media on the occasion. 

Hi Unni Mukundan garu... How are you?

Unni Mukundan: Hello. I'm fine. Superb. I am waiting for the release of 'Yashoda'. 

'Yashoda' is releasing on November 11 in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam languages. You have done Telugu films earlier. Welcome back to Tollywood again!

I have done three films in Telugu. I have played a good character in each film. Those  films have also become hits. Now I have acted with Samantha in 'Yashoda'. She is a very talented actor. When it comes to me as an actor... How's the story? What is my role in that? I'll see that. How much can I do in that role? I'll think about it. It's also important to show something new as an actor. The shooting of 'Yashoda' is a very engaging process. We have made a good film. I am waiting to know the audience's response. 

What was your reaction when directors Hari and Harish narrated the story? 

I immediately said yes. There is no doubt about it. 

What impressed you so much in 'Yashoda'? Looking at the trailer, it looks like you have done the role of a doctor

I can't say much about my character at the moment. You will know only after watching the film. The reason why I immediately said yes is also the story. Let it be in suspense about my role for the time being. 

How was the working experience with Samantha?

Samantha is a very dedicated and hard working actress. She has prepared a lot for her role. Fights, Action and emotional scenes have been done well by her. She talks well with other artists on the set. We have discussed ideas on how to do a scene while doing a it.  The working style in Malayalam is a little different. I think a little bit to give rehearsals as an actor. I'm looking forward to giving a surprise to the artists. I will not reveal now about it. I will do it in front of camera directly. Then the expressions are natural.   

Are you following the same in Telugu as well?

Yes. When you did that in Malayalam, you got good results. So... Same here too! The other artist's  expressions are lively when I don't know how I do it. 

Recently Samantha said that she has myositis . Did you know while shooting?

I didn't know while shooting. Samantha was very professional. She never told that she was fighting such a disease. I felt sad when I saw Samantha's post. Seeing Samantha from close quarters, she fights myositis as a person . She comes to us with health.   

The trailer is getting an amazing response from all the languages. What kind of response are you getting from the Malayalam audience?

It has also received a good response in Malayalam. Not just Malayalam... There is a good response from the audience of all languages. This is a commercial packaged script that will impress everyone. I hope to see it in theatres and enjoy it. 

Sivalenka Krishna Prasad is the producer who has made a great film like 'Aditya 369' in Telugu. How was it to do 'Yashoda' in his production?

He is a very humble person. I have learnt a lot about him when I met him personally. He knows everything in the story line and script. He gives whatever he wants from the production house. Always expects the film to do well. They are ready to do anything for it. All our team and directors should be grateful to Sridevi Movies. 'Yashoda' is a futuristic story idea. They are showing where our society is going. Soon it will become a reality.

The film is set against the backdrop of surrogacy. What is your opinion on surrogacy?

It's a personal matter! No one has any problem when you resort to surrogacy as per the law. Surrogacy is easy to say, but it's an emotional journey. Don't comment on it easily. Scientifically... Miracle. In the Puranas we have heard of such things. 

 The films you are doing right now?

I am doing two or three in Malayalam. 'Malikapuram' is being made with a pan India concept. We are also releasing it in Telugu.
