It is also a good time for film releases, a reason why films line-up for a Sankranti release to make the most of the festive mood. 1. Adhurs 

Adhurs released for the Sankranti 2010, was an action comedy film directed by V. V. Vinayak, written by Kona Venkat, and produced by Vallabhaneni Vamshi Mohan. The movie had the star cast of Jr. NTR, Sheela, Nayantara, Brahmanandam, etc. The story-line, stunts in the cinema, ill-logical action sequences were the flaws in the movie. It was the comedy between Jr. NTR and Barhmanandam, that set the movie as a super hit. The movie collected an estimated returns of Rs. 30crores. 

2. Mirapakai

Mass Maharaja, Raviteja starrer Mirapakay released for 2011 Sankranti was an action comedy film, produced by Ramesh Puppala under Yellow Flowers banner and directed by Harish Shankar. The movie had veteran artists like Kota Srinivas playing a prominent role. The movie was an out and out comedy which the audience enjoyed to the core.  Richa Gangopadhyay and Deeksha Seth played the lady lead in the movie. Ravi Teja proved it again with this movie that he is the king of box-office collections. 

3. Businessman

The hit combination of Puri Jagannadh and Mahesh Babu came back together for Businessman, which was released for the Sankranti 2012. Puri directed the movie with a different story, which had action, sentiment, and all the required ingredients to make it a perfect Sankranthi entertainer. Kajal Agarwal played the lady lead in the movie. S.S.Thaman's music was another highlight of the movie. But it was Superstar Mahesh Babu's action and the unique storyline that worked the magic for the movie. 

4. Seethammavakitlo Sirimalle Chettu

Seethammavakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is a drama based film written and directed by Srikanth Addala. The movie came as a 2013 Sankranti gift to the Telugu audience.  It was produced by Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations, and stars Venkatesh, Mahesh Babu, Anjali, and Samantha, while Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Rao Ramesh, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Abhinaya, and Rohini Hattangadi play supporting roles. The film is considered to be the first multi-starrer of Telugu cinema in recent decades. The movie was mainly about the bondings and relations in a family and human values. People perceived it as a movie from their backyard. 

5. Yevadu 

Yevadu came as 2014, Sankranti release. The movie was an action thriller directed by Vamshi Paidipally, from a screenplay he co-wrote with Vakkantham Vamsi. The film had the star-cast of Ram Charan, Shruti Haasan, and Amy Jackson, while Sai Kumar, Rahul Dev, Jayasudha, and Brahmanandam play supporting roles. Allu Arjun and Kajal Aggarwal did a cameo in the film. The film was produced by Dil Raju under the banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. Music by Devi Sri Prasad and editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh remain as the highlights of the movie. 

6. Nannaku Prematho

Jr.NTR's Nannaku Prematho, released for Sankranti of 2015, was a complete movie. The movie ticked off every criterion of a checklist for the perfect movie. Nannaku Prematho, from the very word in Telugu, translates; to father, with love; the movie was an action thriller film written and directed by Sukumar and produced by B. V. S. N. Prasad under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra, Bhogavalli Bapineedu, and Reliance Entertainment. The film has the stars Rakul Preet Singh, Jagapathi Babu, and Rajendra Prasad playing prominent roles. The movie was Jr.NTR's 25th film as an actor. The melodies Devi Sri composed for this movie remains as the highlights of the movie, apart from the terrific performance of Jr.NTR. 

7. Khaidi No 150

Khaidi No 150, released for the Sankranti 2017, marked the return of Megastar Chiranjeevi to the Silver screen after a hiatus of 10 years. In every way, the movie was special for Telugu Audience, Mega Fans, and Movie lovers. The movie was an action drama film directed by V. V. Vinayak and produced by Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan. The film had Chiranjeevi in a double role.  Kajal Aggarwal played the female lead for the film, while Tarun Arora, Brahmanandam, Ali, and Posani Krishna Murali played pivotal roles. The film is Chiranjeevi's  150th film in his movies lineup. 

8. Jai Simha 

Ballaya's Jai Simha released for Sankranti 2018, was a perfect gift to the Ballaya fans. Balakrishna played the lead in this action film produced by C. Kalyan and directed by K. S. Ravikumar. The female star cast included Nayanthara, Natasha Doshi, Hariprriya, and others. Balayya's action, the story lineup, and K.S.Ravikumar's direction has been the highlight of the movie. Another important aspect was the music of the film, which was composed by Chirantan Bhatt. 

9. F2

Venkatesh continued his multi-starrer release for Sankranti with the movie, f2 released in 2019. The movie had the perfect comedy timing with every aspect reflecting the emotions of a frustrated husband and a man in marriage and love relationships respectively. Anil Ravipudi was brilliant with direction. F2, as tagged Fun and Frustration, had these emotions represented in a very entertaining way. The movie was written and directed by Anil Ravipudi, and produced by Dil Raju and Sirish–Laxman.  Varun Tej, Tamannaah, and Mehreen Pirzada played the other lead cast, while Prakash Raj, Nassar, Rajendra Prasad, Vennela Kishore, and Priyadarshi Pullikonda played the supporting roles. The music composed by Devi Sri Prasad was remarkable. 

10. Sarileru Neekevvaru

Mahesh Babu starrer Sarileru Neekevvaru came as an entertainment package with a message for Sankranti 2020, was an action-comedy entertainer with the backdrop of Patriotism. The movie was directed by Anil Ravipudi. The film had Rashmika Mandanna as the leading lady along with Vijayashanti who made a comeback into the movies after a gap of 13 years. Prakash Raj and Rajendra Prasad played supporting roles. It was produced by Anil Sunkara, Dil Raju, and Mahesh Babu. Devi Sri Prasad composed excellent music for the film. 

These movies made Sankranti even more entertaining, while they also earned huge collections, making Sankranti and movie releases an integral part of one another’s celebrations.
